Do lost sinners go to a place of burning immediately when they die?

"The hour is coming when all that are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth…They that have done good unto the resurrection of life; they have have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation."
2 Peter 2:9
"The Lord knows how…to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished."
Answer
Jesus said that all who die, including lost sinners, are in their graves waiting for the resurrection day. Peter tells us that lost sinners are not receiving their punishment now but are reserved, or held, for punishment at a later time. That time is future and happens after the resurrection of damnation, also known as the 2nd Resurrection. We'll study more about the 2nd Resurrection in our next lesson.
