How are we supposed to keep the Sabbath holy?
Bible
Exodus 20:10
"In it you shall not do any work, you nor your son, daughter, servant, cattle, or stranger within your gates."
Isaiah 58:13-14
"And call the Sabbath a delight…not doing your own ways nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then shall you delight yourself in the LORD."
Answer
God tells us not to do any work on the Sabbath. We are not to go about doing our own ways or pleasures. Does this mean we are not to enjoy the Sabbath? No! God says when we do His ways instead of ours, it will be a delight for us.
One author wrote this about what the Bible says is good to do on the Sabbath: "...so man is to leave the occupations of his daily life, and devote those sacred hours to healthful rest, to worship, and to holy deeds." Desire of Ages
