Question 12
Were the sabbath days in Colossians different from the Ten Commandment Sabbath?
Bible
Colossians 2:16-17
"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drinker in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days which are a shadow of things to come."
Answer
Yes, the sabbath days in Colossians 2 are different from the 10 Commandment Sabbath. These yearly sabbaths were called a shadow of things to come. There were 6 of them each year and they revolved around meat and drink offerings.
Here is an example of a yearly sabbath day in Lev 23:24 “In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets.” This was also called the Feast of Trumpets.
