Are the Dead really Dead?
Or can they communicate with us?
In 2004, Kevin Malarkey and his son Alex became famous for co-authoring a book called, "The Boy who came back from Heaven". The book was about a terrible car accident that left 6 year old Alex paralysed and in a coma for 2 months. In the book, Alex describes how he died in the hospital and was immediately taken by angels into heaven. He said that he met Jesus there and heard beautiful 'unearthly' music. The book became a best seller and was called a true story by the publishers. But in 2015, Alex came forward to admit that he made the whole story up. In an open letter he stated, “I did not die. I did not go to Heaven. I said I went to heaven because I thought it would get me attention. When I made the claims that I did, I had never read the Bible. People have profited from lies, and continue to. They should read the Bible, which is enough. The Bible is the only source of truth. Anything written by man cannot be infallible. I want the whole world to know that the Bible is sufficient. Those who market these materials must be called to repent and hold the Bible as enough. In Christ, Alex Malarkey.” So what does the Bible actually say about what happens when we die? In an earlier lesson, we learned about the devil's very first deception ever perpetrated against the human race. He said to Eve in the Garden of Eden, “You won’t surely die”. This was the first lie the devil ever told. And today, the devil continues to deceive people about what really happens to a person who dies. The problem is, nobody has ever died and come back to tell about it...that is, nobody except one person. That person is Jesus Christ. In this lesson, we’re going to study what the Bible and Jesus say about death and what happens to a person when they die.
