The text above tells us that God doesn't want us to be ignorant about what happens to someone when they die. God’s word gives us clear answers about this very important topic! In fact, this topic is mentioned 300 times in the Bible. One of the first clues about what death is like is found in the word 'sleep'. In the above text, Paul used the word 'sleep' to describe death. Paul reinforces that word 2 more times in the very next 2 verses; "Them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him… We which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep" (1 Thessalonians 4:14-15). According to Paul, a saint who dies is sleeping. The Bible has much to say on this topic.
