Question 10
How has the devil continued this lie, and why?
Bible
2 Corinthians 11:14
Answer
The word 'transform' means to change appearance. If the devil can transform himself to appear as a good angel, then he certainly can change himself to appear as a dead person who has come back to life. He did this in King Saul’s time (see 1Sam 28), and he continues to do it today. Many Christians today report that they have communicated with a departed relative. The Bible forbids this (Leviticus 19:31, 20:6, and 20:27) because it's not the dead relative they are communicating with; it is Satan transformed. Why does the devil do this? His main objective is to deceive people and cast doubt on, and contradict God's word.
Luke 23:43 says, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." The words in the Bible are inspired, but the punctuation is not. By putting a comma before the word “today” the translators changed the meaning of Christ’s statement. The comma should have been after the word “today” thus reading: I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise. How do we know this happened? Because Jesus didn’t go to heaven on that day. Three days later Jesus told Mary, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father (John 20:7). Paradise is another word for heaven, where God is (Rev 2:7). Jesus promised the theif he would be in heaven, but not until the resurrection day.
