Question 13
What about Near Death or Out of Body Experiences?
Bible
Psalm 146:4
Answer
The message from the Bible is consistent on the topic of death. When a person dies, his thoughs cease. If a person has an Out of Body Experience, or any experience that involves thinking, that person is not dead.
Research has shown that Out of Body Experiences can be induced by brain traumas, sensory deprivation, drugs, Near Death Experiences, etc. or a number of other reasons. Robert Peterson, among others, published a book about how to have your own OOB experience. "My Mother in Law tells of drinking episodes where she would pass out then 'float outside and above her own body and look down on it'". ABC NEWS did a story about a 24 year old woman who can have OOB experiences whenever she wants! “I thought everybody could do this” she reported to ABC. Researchers from Stuff to Blow Your Mind concluded, “This doesn’t mean your conscious can live apart from your body”. It's simply your brain projecting this experience on it's own body; easily explained. When a person says they died and floated off to heaven then came back, there are only two possible conclusions to make: The person is either not telling the truth (like Alex Malarkey in our opening story), or the person was not really dead.
