When a person is old enough to understand and believe in Jesus, be repentant for sin and turn from it, and accept Jesus as Savior, he/she is old enough to be baptized. While it is good to dedicate a baby to the Lord, a baby is too young to be taught to understand and believe in Jesus’ teachings. An old time preacher named James White once said, “When a child is old enough to understand that Jesus died in his place, he’s old enough to be baptized.” Be careful about holding children back, or waiting too long. Jesus once said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not.”
