Answer

It’s not hard to tell which of these two combatants is good and which one is bad. The Bible tells us that Michael is the great Prince that stands for God’s people, and that the dragon is called the devil and satan. The word ‘satan’ means adversary.

Who is Michael?

The Bible mentions Michael 5 times. Not only is Michael the great Prince that stands for God’s people, he is also involved in the resurrection of the dead. In Jude 1:9 He is called the archangel who resurrected Moses. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16 we see he is the one responsible for the resurrection of all those who have died believing in Christ. In John 11:25 Jesus said, “I Am the resurrection”. Can you guess who Michael really is? Keep in mind, the Bible is not saying that Jesus is one of the created angels. In fact, the Bible never calls Michael an angel. The Bible calls Michael “The Archangel”. That means “Highest messenger”. The Hebrew word “Michael” means “who is like God”. So Michael the Archangel would mean; “The Highest Messenger who is like God”. In lesson 5 we will study more about this Supreme Being who will someday resurrect the dead.
