What does the oil represent in this parable?

"Samuel took the horn oil and anointed him…and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward."
Answer
The oil represents the Holy Spirit. When Samuel went to anoint David as King of Israel, he poured oil upon David’s head, then the Holy Spirit entered into David.
In Zechariah chapter 4, the bible talks about the oil that was used to make the seven candles burn inside the temple. Speaking of that oil it says, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord. Oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
