Question 13
Is it safe to try and remain ignorant of God’s law?
Bible
Hosea 4:6
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, seeing you have forgotten the law of your God."
Answer
Doing something wrong when we don’t know better is one thing. There is no sin in that. But if we reject an opportunity to know better, that is different. The Bible says we can be destroyed if we have rejected the opportunity for knowledge. If you are pulled over for speeding, you can’t tell the policeman that you didn’t know the speed limit. That will not excuse you. He can give you a ticket anyway because there are signs that post the speed limit, and you could have found out the speed limit if you had looked for the signs. God has provided His word, the Bible, and with it the opportunity to find the truth. God's wants us to search His word and come to the knowledge of the truth.
